Recently Established Universities
1. National Institute of Technology (NIT), Lahore
Launched in January 2025, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) is one of the latest private universities in Lahore. It has partnered with Arizona State University (USA) to bring world-class education and technology programs to Pakistan. NIT focuses on engineering, IT, and applied sciences, making it a game-changer in technical education.
2. University of Mirpurkhas, Sindh
Established in August 2023, the University of Mirpurkhas is a public research university offering programs in agriculture, business, and social sciences. It is expected to boost educational opportunities for students in rural Sindh.
3. University of Larkano
Also inaugurated in 2023, the University of Larkano is designed to serve the educational needs of interior Sindh. It merges several existing institutions into a full-fledged public university.
4. Al-Ghazali University, Karachi
Chartered in 2022, Al-Ghazali University is an Islamic higher education institution launched by Jamia Tur Rasheed. It offers programs in Islamic studies, social sciences, and modern disciplines, aiming to combine traditional values with contemporary education.
5. National University of Pakistan (NUP), Islamabad
Created by legislation in 2023, the National University of Pakistan has its headquarters in Islamabad and is expanding across the country with a focus on leadership, governance, and policy studies.
